Da Brat (Shawntae Harris) is an American female rapper born in Chicago, Illinois April 14, 1974. She was one of the first ever female rappers to go platinum, thanks to her album “Funkdafied”, which reached #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1994.
She started rapping at the young age of 11 and ever since her rise to fame she has worked with various top artists such as “Bow Wow”, “Mariah Carey”, “Jermaine Dupri”, “Kris Kross”, “Lil’ Kim” and “Missy Elliott”.
Besides her music career, Da Brat has also featured in several films such as “Glitter”, “Civil Brand”, “30 Days” and most recently “American Hustle”. She has also made several TV appearances, such as on the 4th season of “Surreal Life”, “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” and was a judge on “Celebrity Rap Superstar” along with DMC and Big Boi.
Da Brat’s bisexuality has caused a stir in the media, potentially giving her additonal fame - however she made her name as a Tough and Profane Rhymer and that is how her true fans continue to see her, for her great lyrical talent.
