Lafonda’s Biography
"Just getting started," is perhaps the first thought that passes to mind when you first see and hear Lafonda delivering a vocalizing performance on any stage. From the first pull of her microphone and to the very next step in her dance routine, you soon realize that talent is evident and a star is rising.
Already being herald as one of the hardest working young female artist in the business, her desire to provide the hottest performances for her growing fan base and amazed on lookers is a testament to her commitment to wanting to be respected as a entertainer on all levels. Whether it’s singing or dancing, she’s ready. She credits influences from legendary artists like Patti Labelle, Anita Baker, Michael Jackson, Toni Braxton and even her mother to helping influence her aspirations to becoming a singer.
As the recipient for “Best R&B Female Artist” in 2006 at the Underground Music Awards hosted at B.B. Kings New York City, she wowed the audience. It wasn’t just because of her hot performance, but also because of her professionalism as an artist. After doing enough performances at venues and shows like MSG TV to make any A&R blush, she’s learned a lot about the music business and the expectations placed on her as a diva in training.
As a native of the Bronx, and haven grown up with siblings, she’s used to competition. So when the opportunity came for her to compete against other aspiring music artist to earn a spot on BET’s 106 & Park “Wild Out Wednesdays,” she got into battle mode and brought her A and B game to beat out some worthy opponents. And beat out opponents, is exactly what she did.
Making it far enough, through the series driven competition, to perform her smashing hot single "OOH AHH" in front the allegiance of 106 & Park viewers, she without a doubt did her thing. Winning a slew of new fans that night, she edged herself even closer to the level of bonafide star.
With haven done past interviews with The Cipha Sounds Effect on Sirius Radio, MTV3, BET.com, Black Beat Magazine, Rolling Out Weekly, Xpoz Magazine, Streets Enigma Magazine and many others, she attests that her rising success is from the hard work that she and others have put into propelling her career.
Under the precision production of Producer Playboy-Chi and his production imprint “Sleepless Productionz Inc.,” they created her first mixtape LP called “Go Hard or Go Home” which was released July 2007. As a sensational blend from start to finish, it was received with positive reviews from such DJ’s as Remy Ma’s official DJ, DJ Bedtyme357, DJ Wayne McDonald in the UK and many others.
She’s also becoming a regular on many college radio stations throughout the US. Her style and makeup as an artist is an introduction to the title that best describes her well… “The Bronx Bombshell.”
