Mariah Carey Heading to ’The X Factor’ ?

According to the New York Post, Simon Cowell is interested in signing the songstress as a judge on the American version of his hit British talent competition series, ’X Factor.’

Cowell has reportedly been pushing for British pop star Cheryl Cole to get a place at his American ’X Factor’ table, but Fox has been reluctant given Cole’s somewhat low celebrity profile in the US.

"Look, I’ve said I’d love Cheryl out there but whether it will happen, who knows?" Cowell told the News of the World. "Mariah Carey would be an amazing addition to the US show," he said. "And she’s exactly the right caliber of star that we want for the show."

Fans may remember that Carey’s name had been rumored as a judge on ’American Idol,’ but those slots were eventually filled by Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler.
