Rihanna Must Testify Against Chris
Rihanna will be called to testify against Chris Brown in his domestic violence case. Rihanna’s lawyer, Don Etra, confirmed yesterday that prosecutors plan to subpoena the “Umbrella” singer to appear at a June 22 hearing and Etra said that Rihanna “absolutely will comply” with the subpoena.
Meanwhile, the court rejected a request by Chris Brown’s lawyer to look at police records in order to figure out who leaked that photo of Rihanna’s bruised and swollen face. Attorney Mark Geragos has implied that he might try to get the case thrown out on the basis of police misconduct.
But L.A. Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg agreed that the photo leak was unfortunate, but said it had nothing to do with Brown’s arrest and wouldn’t undermine his right to a fair trial.
Reporters asked Geragos yesterday if he was confident that he could keep Chris from doing time in this case, but Geragos dodged the question by saying, “I’m not going to address any of that.”
